The Skyhorse Carousel is an amusement ride and art installation celebrating human culture and cosmology, with figures depicting those humble beasts from ancient and modern traditions who traverse the skies as part of the mechanics of the universe– bearing, guiding, and embodying the Sun, Moon, and stars. Each Sky Story represented offers the opportunity to learn something about the culture it originates from and the associated scientific phenomena. You can meet the horses here!

This carousel went to Black Rock City for the 2024 Burning Man art festival and we had a fabulous time!! It was a huge success! We gave ~5000 rides, made tons of smiles, and the art was adored by all. You can read our donor engagement report for a snapshot of our experience

Now, we prepare to return for Burning Man 2026! After that, to festivals, galleries, and events wherever science, art, and culture may meet. More information here.
